Grey's transplant 19th May scheduled.

Post by Grey »

Hi good friends, my transplant date has been re-scheduled for the 19th May. At the same time as part of a "paired exchange" swap my wife will be donating a kidney to make my transplant possible, so someone else will be getting a new kidney. here's hoping it actually happens this time round and all operations involved go smoothly without complication.
After a long time of waiting an anonymous donor has arrived in my life.
Words cannot express my gratitude to this lady and my paired exchange wife donor making it all possible

Hi Grey,

That's brilliant news!

I hope everything goes smoothly for you and Yvonne this time, and that the operations go ahead as scheduled.

They don't tell you everything about the possible complications of a transplant in advance, but there is absolutely no doubt that it's better than a life on dialysis, in my opinion!

Best wishes,
Mandy

Great news, after also having my first try cancelled while in the shower at the hospital I know first hand how stressful it can be. But with more than two people involved it can't have been easy for everyone involved. Wishing all involved the best and a swift recovery.

Just remember, nothing worth having is easy.
Now 35 with Alports and I had my first kidney-versary 18th feb 2013....I hope to have many more.

My living donor and his family are doing all well.

Mine was moved back as well - with 2 transplants it must be even more complicated!

The very best of luck with everything.

Just to say all the best for Monday.

Your story had given me hope for the paired exchange scheme - however last Saturday I got "the call" and am now the proud caretaker of a new kidney.
I was surprised at how sore it was immediately after the operation (not sure why baring in mind what I'd just gone through) but I've been amazed at the daily improvement.

Good Luck.
