Re: Side effects of post txt drugs

Alex,

I only know about the pred on that list.

It definitely causes a "moon face", makes you hungry and can cause depression.

The effects do wear off. Particularly once you realise that' it's only the drugs affecting your mood, you can overcome it.

Best of luck to your wife.

Re: RE: Marrakech

Yep, been twice post tx. Once doing a mountain bike ride through the High Atlas Mountains in about 1998 and the second time about 10 years ago with the family. Don't worry, eat hotel/restaurant food and not street food or salads that have been washed in the local water. Bottled drinks with no ice, p...

Re: How long have you had your transplant?

Too much thinking about it will cause worry and fret.

Re: New member needing support

Violet, Every story is different but it may help if i tell mine. I was a bit older than your son when i was first diagnosed with renal failure, i was about 19 and it was way back in 1979. My Mum was in the consulting room with me when we were told and clearly it was a bigger shock to her than me. As...

Re: Cycling and renal failure

Ruth,

I managed to get out on the bike 3 times last week (we were in Majorca), first time since the crash.

I felt quite good, well, fat and unfit, but the first time, was nearly crying with joy.

Weather too cold for me now, but roll on the spring!

Re: Cycling and renal failure

Looking forward to getting out and about post-snow since I had to spend four days off the bike and was climbing the walls. Ruth Enjoy your riding. I had the worst accident i've ever had back in early Sept, won't be on an outside bike until early Feb. The longest i've been off a bike for about 30 ye...

Re: GP refusing to prescribe phosphate binders

Cazpi, Change your GP surgery. I did about 7 years ago to one which has about 20 Doctors. I have one allocated to me who is very reasonable. Also as the practice is so big, they can create a list of their patients who are at risk of hospitalisation which means if you phone and want to speak to someo...

Re: Cycling and renal failure

Ruth (i hope that's your real name), In helping, the problem i have, is that i am on very old medicines and i suspect you and most on this Forum are on very different meds to me. I'm on Prednisolone and azathiaprine, cyclosporine was just being discovered back in 1981, and whilst they have a lot of ...

Re: Cycling and renal failure

I've already experienced the dreaded 'bonk' recently for the first time and am very keen to avoid it again. It was interesting to see you said that I should stop every hour, that may be where I'm going wrong. I'm used to putting in 3hrs without stopping, but recently this has become far more diffic...

Re: Cycling and renal failure

Ruth, I also have a tx and cycle. I used to help run Kingston Wheelers, a 600 member Club in SW London. I haven't heard of anything quite as tricky as your request but what i might do is post it on my Club's forum, if you don't mind. There is a huge knowledge base within the Club and someone might c...

Re: New Here, Chronic Glomerulonepphritis stage 1 or 2 CKD

Dick, I too had glomerulonephritis at an early age. I went into end stage renal failure when i was 22. I, and others, just made the best of life on dialysis. Six months later i was lucky enough to get a well functioning transplant. That was in 1981. Back then, the anti-rejection drugs, and knowledge...

EF123,

Why not use your real name and state your background and purpose?

I assume you have nothing to hide.

I always use my real name as i don't. And i'm not even asking for something.
