Dibs, For what it's worth, the NHS produces both graft and patient survival rates for each of the renal tx centres in the UK: http://www.odt.nhs.uk/pdf/organ_specific_report_kidney_2016.pdf Page 46 onwards has that information if it is of any use to you. And sorry you're leaving Guy's, we could have...

Jman,
Thanks, you did well to dig that out.
Pretty basic stuff compared to proper and full accounts, but so be it.
It'll be interesting to see if they come back with a more detailed breakdown.

Re: NKF (UK) Helpline & unsupervised volunteers - caution
Just had a little look around their website. They say that 1500 patients contacted the helpline and 300 carers on behalf of patients, so 1800 calls in total. The helpline is open Mon to Fri, and let's assume not on Bank Hols/Public Hols. So it's open, about 52 x 5 = 260 days, minus 8 Bank Holidays= ...

Homeopathy, PLEASE! All the proper evidence says it is nonsense on stilts. http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-archive/science-technology/s-t-homeopathy-inquiry/ https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/health-topics/complementary-medicines/homeopathy-review And here's an explanation why: http:/...

Re: CMV Experiences
Jim, My experience of CMV is from many years ago and seems to be different from yours. So i'll describe it, but suggest that your renal physicians know more than me. I was transplanted in Sept 1981 and after a few weeks had CMV. I was very ill with a massive temperature for about 3 to 4 days. My Dad...

All fine, but of course you must tell the people doing it in case they want to give you antibiotic cover in case of infection.

Re: RE: Transplants and yoghurt!
Hello All I am 15 months post transplant and am embarking on a diet (thanks, steroids!). I love Greek yoghurt (Fage Total 0% Fat) but have noticed that it contains live cultures. I know this is a no-no for transplantees. After lots of research, and by the very definition of yoghurt, I am unable to ...

That may well be a side effect of prednisolone.
It seems to have various psychological side effects.
They don't seem to be well or systematically recorded, but talking to my consultants over the years, it is a theme that recurs.

Other than being careful with the operation site, you can do what you want.

Re: I give up....please help :(
Zeoanne, Your situation sounds grim, i really feel for you. I can't offer many words of comfort since i've never been in your situation. One thing i would suggest, if you are UK based,is to ask your GP to refer you to a different Consultant. You have every right to do so and the GP should comply. Th...
