Re: PD cathater removal.

Mine was removed during my transplant surgery due to having been to place the kidney on my left rather than right as the new pancreas went on the right, sounds like I may have lucked out on not having it removed down the line

Re: Prograf Tacrolimus

That's fine then Grey, but as said before different clinics obviously advise their patients different things, different people have different absorption rates, comparing medication is almost pointless due to the fact that people all react differently, I for example have had a double transplant at th...

Re: Book on Kidney Donation Experience

Grey, I do think that you are being slightly premature and a tad unfair in critising your wife's kidney recipient for not writing already, I had a double transplant at the start of March and still do not feel ready or able to put into a letter how I feel about receiving such a life changing gift, or...

Re: Position of transplanted kidneys

My new kidney is on my left hand side due to my new pancreas being put on the right side, I'm fairly slim but no overalls noticeable bump on either side to speak of

Re: About peritoneal dialysis...

Stephen, I don't think there is an issue with this as I know that many hospitals provide funding for a outside shed if you don't have anywhere else to store the boxes, the Royal London do at least.

Re: About peritoneal dialysis...

I guess that's the difference between Baxter and fresenius as they couldn't have been better, both in training and support, never felt the machine draining in or out at all right from the start which was excellent, yeah kidney and pancreas doing great cheers, hope you are also.

Re: About peritoneal dialysis...

Stephen, I was on APD for a year, I had a fresenius machine which I found a million times easier and better than the Baxter one, nice touch screen display and no drain pain at all with it, te delivery drivers were excellent tool all my boxes to the spare room where I kept everything and used the mac...

Re: Prograf Tacrolimus

Whilst in hospital after my transplants the nurses gave me all my tablets inc MMF with breakfast, lunch and dinner without anything about having to have it on an empty stomach, guess different hospitals/units have different ways of doing things

Re: Top Tips for those going in to have a tx

I can echo that, the best thing for me were the bottles of sugar free squash, clothes wise I actually needed about two sizes smaller than before my double transplant as I'd lost so much weight maint from fluid but also just a lot of flesh weight, kidney worked straight away and i was passing about t...

Re: PD tube removal

My PD line was removed during my transplant, but that may have been as I had a kidney and pancreas transplant, I'm glad my stent removal thread has helped ease your mind a little, that was the aim of posting of my experience with it. All the best for both.

Re: Post transplant shape

I was the opposite after transplant (well double, kidney and pancreas) I was about 15kg lighter than before my transplant, but some of that was down to having about 3-4 litres of fluid retention while on PD

Re: Stent removal

Hi, so far I think iv been fairly lucky with side effects, however I did have a bit of anxiety and sleeplessness for the first couple of weeks after leaving hospital but that seemed to clear up after that, they reduced my steroids from 10mg to 5mg after about 4 weeks after the transplant which I thi...
