Re: Ticks Spiders

Can you get it fumigated?

Then anything in it right now is dead. As for when you are camped, wouldn't think it's any more of a chance Isi than a day out in the countryside.

Re: Kidney transplant patients

So no links to a hospital etc. What would worry me is that you; don't have links to a hospital or research group and that a quick check on companies house has it as two offices. How do I know my information would be safe/not shared/sold outside of the UK? I would advise people to view this with caut...

Re: Kidney transplant patients

Do you have any additional information on who you represent? Where the information you collect will be used?

are you affiliated to a hospital/research group? I am all for helping others with information.......but only when I know how it will be used....not just offered money.

Re: DIY SOS

It was a brilliant episode of an amazing show, it shows the lack of exposure people have to others who are going through dialysis and the impact it has on your life and those who love you. My one concern is this 5-10 year life expectancy, this is a number. A number that doesn't show that the average...

Re: Second Anniversary

Great to hear that you are doing so well post TX and that the gift given is continuing to work well and for you to enjoy a dialysis free life. If your donor is looking in on you then they will be happy to see the difference this has made, wishing you many more years of good health

Re: Diarrhea on Tacrolimus

Seems like he is slipping through the net a little. I will have bad bouts of dhiorhea but informed it's a side effect and keep hydrated. My mobility can vary and the steroids don't help my joints. Make sure you go to his clinic and insist on more action being taken. Loss of nobility will not help hi...

Re: APD advice

It has been a while since I was on the baxter APD machine but it sounds like a problem with the setup. Between fills the bag on the warmer acts as the central store, topped up from the other bags and so the fluid should be warmed for the next fill - the same for the extraneal bag - mine would be on ...

Re: Babies and Nappies

First up, congratulations. Transplants change and help create lives. I tried to use the transplant excuse to get out of changing nappies.....I didn't get away with it, just good personal hygiene is all you need. If you are worried get a few boxes of disposable gloves. Be prepared to pick up every li...

Re: Mortgage

Hi, I had a mortgage before being diagnosed, but last year applied for a new deal with another lender at extended terms/value. Health wasn't The only trouble I had was getting life insurance, the premiums all wanted to exclude renal problems and were about 25% of my repayment value each month. Lucki...

Re: Testing for Transplant

Hi, From experience the workup / testing for transplant is the most stressful experience myself and my donor went through - this is my story http://livelifegivelife.org.uk/our-blog/stu39s-and-rich39s-story It took almost a year to complete the tests and psychological evaluation and I had the same fr...

Re: Doctor Nightmare

Sorry I didn't see your age in the original post. Now I am not a doctor but can tell you that with age the kidneys will drop function, this is why a large percentage od people in renal failure are in the later stages of life. I take steroids every day as part of my transplant medication, so not sure...

Re: best working height for APD machine ?

Mine was placed on a bedside table and sometimes the floor.

I found keeping the excess tube coiled up on the bed helped. But most people IKEA alarms came when constipated or just laid in a strange position.

Glad you got the answer. I remember talking through the changes and making sure they were correct, but not if you had to press a save sequence!

Re: Very frequent urination after tx

I could go from not needing to pee to having to go in about 1 second. While not urinating on dialysis you are warned that the bladder shrinks, I would have urges to pee all the time when on dialysis and not be able to squeeze out a drop. Stent removal can increase the need to pee for a day or so bec...
