Re: Vaccines for Covid 19
Relaxing in May, may lead to a surge in cases but if it’s in people who dont need hospitalisation, we shouldn’t have to have a 4th lockdown. The new variants however are rather an unknown quantity on this front. I’m keen for us all to have our second vaccinations. I hope this will reduce our risk of...

Re: Scared
Megs, Sorry to hear your news. It’s always scary when we don’t know what’s going to happen and what to do about it. An gfr of 35 shouldn’t give you too many problems at present. The problem is that you don’t know at what rate it will fall. The best things you can do are to keep your blood pressure u...

Re: emotional help
Hi bhc962, I feel for you and your husband. It is such a shock when you reach this point. It is a difficult time with difficult decisions to be made. The only person that can make these decisions is your husband. Your role (and his brothers role) is to support him in his decisions. It can be difficu...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19
The transplant nurses from my hospital rang yesterday to ask if I’d been vaccinated, when and with which vaccine. I’ve been vaccinated. Not sure what they would have done if I hadn’t. It was nice to get the support.

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19
Had mine on Sunday at local hub. Felt nothing at time and don’t have a sore arm..I do wonder if they actually gave me one! Had Astra Zeneca. No appointment for second dose. I’m a bit concerned. I can see appointments for this drifting. I don’t think being vulnerable with a dodgy immune response we c...

Re: Seasons Greetings
Happy Christmas everyone. This year a bit different and quiet as many of us are shielding once again. Let’s hope that the New year brings a vaccine and a return to normal life. However there are bits of this year I’d like to retain. The kindness of strangers, the swapping of greetings when you meet ...

Wagolynn,
that’s scary even if you know the odds are small.
Hope all goes well.

Re: egfr reading
Hi Hansi, I remember it was very scary. I also remember the nurses were fantastic. There is also support available here. Many of us have been through the same thing and are still going strong. Collect contact details for those nurses and ask any questions. No question is too trivial. Best wishes Sue

Re: Coronavirus
So, here we go again. Not exactly a surprise but disappointing.
Any thoughts on if we will be shielding again? I’m still desperate to hug my children (in their late 20’s) but one is a nurse and another a teacher and both describe themselves as “a walking Corona virus risk” as far as I’m concerned.

Jooles,
Just wondered what happened. Did you have to go back into work?
Such a difficult situation. I felt for you.

Thanks
I often drop by this site for a look and a read, sometimes I even post replies. However I think that a vote of thanks should go to Wagolynn. He gives encouragement and advice to many posters who drop by. Many are asking questions that already have been answered but he patiently explains and personal...

Re: Coronavirus
I got an update letter today!! I have to admit to being amazed. It contains the same information that was released yesterday. They talk about a “pause” in shielding and admit it may need to be reintroduced if cases go up. They also stress that their advice is advisory and we need to do what we are c...

Re: Coronavirus
Dean, You have done so well. It must be so much more difficult with small children. I have to admit I gave in weeks ago. Working on the theory that there is less virus than there was and that virus is killed by uv light (in 8 minutes in Spanish sunlight), I have ventured to areas where And when I am...

Re: Coronavirus
News from Kidney Care UK Today: “ If you have been advised to shield and are in England and Wales you should receive a letter by June 15 about future plans for shielding. We are seeking confirmation that this is the same for Northern Ireland and Scotland.” Baring in mind the fiasco in March when we ...
