Hi jadesteva... Just a question.. Which country are you in? In the UK the NKF and its local and young persons groups can put you in touch with others in the same situation. www.kidney.org.uk/ypg/ and www.kidney.org.uk/LocalGroups/ They also have a HelpLine you can call. In the US the AAKP serves a s...

Hi .. you need to be clear of your options before you decide.. Here in the UK it is possible to be 'written up' (for the donor to have all the tests etc) for a live donation and then accept a cadaver (from a dead person) kidney. This happened to me. I accepted a cadaver the day before I was due to g...

Hi Laura.. yes to someone with working kidney's 500ml does seem like a ridiculously small amount. It will probably seem even more so to your dad if he is used to downing a few pints with his mates as many normally do. However kidneys balance your body's fluid (among other things) by producing urine....

I think its normal to feel nervous.. I was when they dropped my Neoral to 100 from 150.. However tthough may sometimes appear otherwise their 'protocols' ususally ARE based on scientific research, even if they aren't very good at explaining things.. Give em a call if you're worried.. They 'should' b...

Numbnessand tingling can be a sign of a number of things from simple dehydration, to low sodium, potassium or calcium..

SUggest you at least ask your team to check these for you as if it doesn't appear to be any of these it might be worth looking further into it.

I don't think a lot.. the tech guys who do the scan have to wait on the radiologists report, they are not 'really' allowed to say much to the patient.

Sounds like they've confirmed that you have hypertension (raised blood pressure) on the kidney though...

Interesting post Jack.. Aruba is a Carribean Island BTW (I had to look this up as my geography is somewhat lacking.) I would be exceedingly cautious about any herbal medcine used in conjunction with renal problems.. While herbal medicine may provide symtomatic change (such as increased urine) it may...

An oft covered topic!

Personally I found hemo worked well for me once I settled on it. A main reason was the it intruded less into my home life, as once off the machine I walked completly away from it until the next session. I had PD when much younger.. It didn't agree with me so well. But is always a possible future opt...
