Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Chris, Don’t hold your breath. Mine is now a couple of weeks overdue. My GP claims to know nothing about it. My renal unit (St Helier) is not interested. Unfortunately I’d not kept the letter about my third primary dose. I think my problem is we are semi shielding again ( well being careful). I have...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Thumps,
How did it go?
I had a non specific text about “have your booster” but couldn’t apply on line.

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

No. Which is the difficulty. The government advice is that I am due a booster 12 weeks after my 3rd primary vaccination. However as normal the NHS computer system can’t quite cope with it, hence the need for an old fashioned letter from my GP or unit is required. I was just wondering if anyone one h...

Re: suggestion... how about introducing ourselves??

Wagolynn,

Hope you and Mrs W are all settled in now.
As time passes with kidney disease I realise more and more just how much more we know about our own disease than many of the “experts” around us. The good professionals are those that will at least listen to us.

All the best

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Anyone had their booster (4th vaccine dose) yet?
Trying to organise mine as it’s overdue and meeting a wall of silence from my GP.

Wagolynn,

I’m delighted to see you back. I was rather concerned that you hadn’t been round for a while.
Hope all is well.

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Just back from the vaccination centre. (Sitting with a cup of coffee and feeling relieved it’s done). I slipped in as my booster dose is almost due. The vaccination centre is struggling with the IT for 3rd primary doses. It doesn’t appear as an option on their computers. They have logged mine in the...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Got to chat to a local GP (not my own). She knew nothing about 3rd primary doses. Said everything was being handled by local commissioning group. I asked if local practices had to supply patient names. She said no as data would be automatically extracted from computer notes (and this depended on thi...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Thumps, do let us know.
I contacted my practice today and got the reply “your booster is due in the middle of October”. I don’t think they appreciated the difference between a third primary dose and a booster shot. By the time they sort themselves out it will be mid October anyway.

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Ok, so has anyone been invited for a 3rd primary dose of vaccination yet?

I guess this is being labelled differently as we can have it 8weeks after a previous vaccination (don’t have to wait 6 months).

Re: Taking its toll

Jman, sorry to hear you are struggling. It’s been a tough year, many of life’s little enjoyments being denied, not helped now by those around us “getting back to normal” (what ever that is) while we are told to carry on social distancing.Anxiety is so disabling. I hope you manage to get some help.

Re: suggestion... how about introducing ourselves??

Freyasdad, I’m afraid I can’t give you any advice or hints, but as the recipient of a wonderful kidney, I can say you are a hero. I have heard a donated kidney described as “the gift of life”. It is a very generous and wonderful thing you are about to do. On behalf of recipients everywhere, thank yo...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Thumps, That’s very interesting. I don’t think I’m brave enough to reduce my immunosuppression like that. I may discuss with my consultant next time I see him (these telephone appointments just aren’t the same). It does seem a good idea. Like you my transplant seems very stable. I’ve just (an hour a...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Thumps,

Which vaccine did you have? (I’m impressed with your antibody result).
Still awaiting my AZ booster. I’d love to know if it has worked.
