Getting mine today!
Yippee...
Second one booked in for early April.
Gotta traipse up to St Thomas's though, but relative to sitting at home getting bored, it's a bit of an adventure!

Re: Coronavirus
Thumps, Dean, I had to have a blood test done for my GP last week. I asked them to do all my renal ones as well. The Sister delivered the forms to the phlebotomist. And when i went in i waited about 2 mins, all masked up, and got them all done. The GP surgery then e-mailed me the renal results for m...

Re: Coronavirus
Wagolyn, I beg to differ about the alcohol hand rub (non alcohol hand sanitiser is ineffective) but fully agree about hand washing and calling 111. I am curious about how great our risks are, being immunosuppressed or on dialysis, if we catch it. There is nothing we can particularly do. A search of...

Re: Coronavirus
Very surprised to be told I wasn’t included on the list (as far as my GP is concerned) which is why I was wondering if they’d been issued with more specific guidance. But I’ve seen the letter that NHS England sent to GPs and it doesn’t look that way. Anyway, I’ve asked that my GP look at it again a...

Re: Coronavirus
Well did we all get our texts/letters today? I, and my family, have basically been doing that for 10 days already. It's fine, although boring, for me as a transplant patient. It's my poor kids, who've given up all social life, to help protect their Dad. They have given up a chunk of their lives. Wha...

Re: Prednisone advice
Hopefully you may not be on that dose for too long. I started on 120mg which was slowly reduced over the next year or two and has now been reduced significantly over the last the last 37 years. I think that the official line as per the side effects listed by NICE is a risk of "anxiety". ht...

Re: Warts, verrucae and abnormal smears
I posted above about my warts a few years ago. This is a catch up. There is a treatment called DCP: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10468802 which is not widely available in the UK, even though the drug is very cheap, i think it's the cost of training that might be an issue. For those who can ge...

Re: Anyone recieved pip after transplant?
Back when i was done benefits were called something different. So i had to look up PIP! :) About two months post transplant i just applied for every job i could, and that was back in the 1981 recession when jobs were difficult and the unemployment rates was about 12%. All i wanted was something in L...

In 43 years, i'll be 102 years old.igor1974 wrote:
It would be sensational if the next one (which hopefully will happen) last 43 years as that would make me 98 years old.
Let's arrange an average 100 year old party for the two of us!
We'll need loads of younger women though, you know, in their 80s

Re: Hospital stay after transplant?
I was transplanted at about 5.30/6.00 in the am. At about 8.30 the medical registrar, now an eminent Professor at a London teaching hospital, so will remain nameless, looked at my notes and then just said "Get out of bed and get some clothes on by the end of the day". I made it the next am...

Re: How long have you had your transplant?
Had mine for 43 years. Sadly it has finally given up the ghost and I have had my first day of training for PD today. Luckily this went well and paracetamol seemed to control the 'drain pain'. I'm now waiting (not so patiently) for kidney number 2 to turn up. Igor, 43 years, that's amazing, and must...
