Re: Long term dialysis
Hi Duker.. Sounds like you do need some external help. Dialysis is shit.. I'm back on dialysis after a failed transplant in 2005.. I'm not even going to say there are people better/worse off than you cos that's no help, a fact, but no help. Have you tried counselling.. KidneyCareUK offers a phone co...

Re: Vegetairian on dialysis
There's some veggie's and even vegans on dialysis. Both work well if you have good clearance and dialyse frequently. Well dialysis works well if you have good clearance:) NONE of the books below claim to 'cure' kidney disease, and most have a substantial area/list of recipes and tips for vegetarians...

Re: Advice please on protecting a fistula in a physical job
There are a few products that are a bit like 'support sleeves' for fistulas. Mostly shipped from the USA I think.. I've never used one myself but they seem to add some protection.

Re: Advice please on protecting a fistula in a physical job
There should be some people:) Generally heavy lifting really isn't advised, and basically at your own discretion when the fistula has fully matured (about 6 months, in my opinion anyway). I can lift a 5 litre can of dialysate, but not repeatedly and nor carry for a long distance.. Used to lug stock ...

Re: UK Renal Association Guidelines for transplantees
More from a clinical approach but useful, especially as most hospitals seem to 'appear' to make up their own rules as they go along!

Re: Reviews of UK Dialysis Units
To some degree 'Global Dialysis' allows for reviews of dialysis centres in the UK and globally..

Thats all I can think of, but not UK specific review sites:

Re: Help me lower my phosphate
Why does it matter if your phosphate is high? I am just learning about this stuff with my dad, who is about to start dialysis. His renal specialist nurse said his phosphates were over 1000 in his urine (edit. I probably mean blood!!). So we went away and looked up phosphates in food, and decided he...

Re: In need of a severe RANT!
Your post reads very very much like my experience of a Fresenius dialysis unit. I'd ask where it is ,(but feel free to PM me your response). I was in a newish, unit in London, and also helped make up a small flowerbed with one of the staff and family. A little bench, nice to wait for transport in th...
