Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

When you say your GP is arranging for you to have a test, what kind of test do you mean? An antibody test?

My second shot is also mid-April, wondering if there's a way i can do the same.

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

If you're over 50 they'll be contacting you sometime before May for a vaccination anyway :)

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

I had mine done at the hospital where my renal unit is, but it wasn't in the renal unit, just part of the overall vaccine centre.

Vaccines for Covid 19

Hi folks - wanted to start a thread so fellow transplant patients could share their experiences around the Covid19 vaccination process. I've been invited to my local hospital for mine on Saturday, with the second dose booked in for early April, 11 weeks away. Has anyone else had theirs yet? Which on...

Re: should i go to hospital with GFR 22

Hello there - the short answer to your question is no, there's no specific need to go into hospital with a eGFR of 22. Many people can live a pretty normal life with a stable eGFR of that level (I did for a number of years). However - you don't say in your post if you have a diagnosis of *why* you h...

Re: Waiting for more tests

I would also advise against doing too much Googling. Very hard to tease out what might be true vs what might not and self diagnosis is frequently an exercise in fear! More tests is the way to go. Good luck!

Hi Kelly! Nice to see you here. I've never been on dialysis but I have had a double nephrectomy shortly after my transplant. Wishing you all the very best!

Re: Dialysis?

I agree re: oximeter, not helpful specifically for iron depletion.

I got into a habit of having regular (quaterly??) iron infusions, didn't notice a huge energy surge except for when they were closely aligned with my EPO injections, when I felt like an Olympic athlete by comparison! 8)

Re: egfr reading

Hi Hansi I joined this forum at that exact point - when things had dropped and they started talking to me about dialysis and transplant options. The people here were super helpful and reassuring. The nurses at my unit were also excellent. Sue is right - they'll want to help. Good luck and do feel fr...

Sorry to hear that - how are you feeling? I was very tired and itchy by that point. Wishing you well. What happens now?

Yep. Always best to act like you have the thing and could give it to others, because that's how collectively we get it all done right.

I only wear a mask when I'm going inside somewhere.

Re: Coronavirus

I'm still not going indoors to bars or restaurants, but I am going into supermarkets and shops for short periods. Staying away (as in only meeting outside) from anyone who has children or works in hospitality or retail. In fact I'm social distancing from everyone except my husband and our bubble per...

Re: Coronavirus

There's another press conference thing at 5. I wonder if we'll be seeing any mention of shielding in that.
