Re: Will diet make a difference?

I concur on the symptoms likely being related to low GFR. I was hovering around 15-20 for ages while we arranged my pre-emptive transplant. It's a long old journey but I've never felt better (now 11 years post-op!)

Re: Does Donating a Kidney Shorten Your life?

I'm not sure it's fair to say that problems are to be expected in pregnancy after donation - I know a lady who has and it was completely plain sailing. The literature seems to agree there may be a slight increased risk of some conditions (eg pre-eclampsia) but these can be managed by good pre-natal ...

Fear of tx failure?

Hey folks, long time no speak (just moderating!). I'm coming up to ten years post tx and everything is fine - in fact I've just been bumped down to a twice yearly checkup instead of quarterly and I find that a little bit scary! What's really messing with my head though is that I was always taught (a...

Easy to get impatient - six months is a good marker. I had my tx before Christmas and was just about fit to go to Glastonbury that summer ;)

I did once but it was masked by a "don't smoke, you fool" conversation, because cancer, obvs. I'd be intrigued if the conversation could be had about vaping with a THC/CBD based substance instead!

Re: How to inform employer that I need a transplant

Check your contract and HR policies before you go to your manager so you know exactly what you're entitled to when you have to take time off. Figure out how supportive they may or may not be from that. Tell them you'll keep them as informed as you can in the lead up to anything happening. Ask them w...
