Carry on the good work.
We maybe don’t post as often as we used to, but it’s always nice to know you are here.
Thanks

Re: New to forum

Hi Peter, With an eGFR of 60 your symptoms are unlikely to be due to renal toxaemia. You seem to be having a tough time. Black stools can be due to medication (Iron and others) or bleeding into your bowel. This may be related to your tender stomach. You really need to be assessed by a doctor. As you...

Re: Cost of living Food - Community Grocers

I had always wondered how people got food bank vouchers. (Maybe you all knew already). As a result of some volunteering I’ve done I can answer - through your local citizens advice service. If they can’t refer you directly they can tell you who can. In some areas they are also responsible for distrib...

Re: A question I never thought I'd ask but.......

Rik, I have to admit I was wondering the same thing. It’s rather sad. When I originally joined in 2014 there was so much happening. People were so helpful with my dialysis questions and people posting their stories almost felt like old friends. (I would love to know how Jooles and Grey are getting o...

Re: Stage 3a kidney disease

Hi Becky225, Welcome to the forum. The important thing with eGFR is the trend. If it is bobbing around the same figure, there is no emergency. Maybe your GP just wants to touch base with you for a general chat and review. Maybe they just want to review medication or your general health. Don’t panic....

Re: Live Transplant - what to expect?

Hi ckd1983, I have to agree with everything Zennor said. A new kidney is transformative. I hope all goes well. I had hair loss, enough to thin my hair but not go bald. I think it was due to the “stress” of the transplant or the tacrolimus. It lasted about 6 months before resolving and my hair went b...

Re: My Covid experience…so far

Dirverd,

I hope you hear about treatment and your symptoms remain mild.
Do let us know how you get on.
If you don’t get back to us we will fear you are more unwell!

How “back to normal” are you?

Just wondering after the last 2 year show everyone is doing? I’m nearly 7 years post transplant. My family think I should carry on being very covid cautious. I watch the world around me getting on with life and want to do the same. I hug my grown up children (despite one being an A&E nurse). I m...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

I’ve had my 4th vaccination! No thanks to either my GP or renal unit. A contact was able to give me an email address of the clinic organiser. - from then on there was no problem. A smooth no problem process. I got home to find an email from my GP (what timing) to say they knew nothing about 4th vacc...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Gosh Thumps, that’s amazing. Which is your renal unit? I’m still being turned away. Vaccination centre say email us ?.! (They don’t give their email address). GP still not replying. I’ve been told they are short staffed but isn’t everyone. Renal unit not interested. Say ask your GP!! Can’t decide if...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Chris, Don’t hold your breath. Mine is now a couple of weeks overdue. My GP claims to know nothing about it. My renal unit (St Helier) is not interested. Unfortunately I’d not kept the letter about my third primary dose. I think my problem is we are semi shielding again ( well being careful). I have...

Re: Vaccines for Covid 19

Thumps,
How did it go?
I had a non specific text about “have your booster” but couldn’t apply on line.
