Re: Thrush

Hi Thelma. I haven't had Thrush, but back in January I thought I had. I spoke with the pharmacist who wouldn't advise me to take anything I had to speak with my consultant. Typically this was 5pm on a Friday. Unfortunately, for me it turned out to be a water infection, but because I thought it was t...

Re: Hair loss - anyone else ?

Hi all. Just to let you know, my 12 month anniversary is next week, and my hair is definitely growing back. It started properly growing back at Christmas. I do look like a new born baby around mhy face, and nape of my neck particularly, with lots of fine curly hair, but I am glad it is growing back....

Re: Did you solicit a donor kidney and how?

Hi. I had my transplant April 30 2012, and it came from my hubby. But my kidney failure rapidly decreased over a 3 month period. I have to say usually I am not the type of person to ask for anything, where I can - I do everything myself! But on this occasion, once I'd picked myself up off the floor ...

Re: Being a Donor

Hi Morag Don't know if it's any help, but I received my new kidney from my hubby on April 30th last year. He was a 1-1-1 match, so we were really lucky. I knew I had kidney failure from 2004 when I was pregnant with my daughter, however, in Dec 2011 my kidney function went really bad, and by April 2...

Re: Local support groups ?

Thanks Mrs Pick. I appreciate your comments. I will have to see what I can do. Currently, I have just started back at work full time, and am on the fund raising committee for my daughter's gymnastic group, so have little time up to xmas. But, hopefully next year, I will start to put something in pla...

Local support groups ?

HI. I just wondered if anyone attends or has set up any local support groups. I have been very aware that apart from this forum - which I think is really good, there seems to be little support out in the big bad world - plenty for other illnesses (but I won't go there!). I am interested in setting u...

Re: Back to work?

I don't have anything else to add, and I know it's cheesy but you sound a bit like me.
Just want to send you lots of hugs, and hope you feel better in six weeks when you get back to school.

Re: Back to work?

Hi - you sound a little like me, though I had 3 months off, I aimed on doing a phased return to work, though my boss doesn't quite see it like that - and I agree with the others, you do get shattered. I usually feel like a blanket of tiredness has been dropped on me about 1pm every day. Not to menti...

Kidney Research Big Band Concert

Hi all. Found this on a twitter entry. Big Band - The Good Guys are doing a gig at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness on 7th October 2012. "The Good Guys Orchestra is an exciting 18-piece Big Band fusing the traditional authentic swing era with the now popular musical styles perhaps better known f...

Re: Feeling Unwell - Advice?

I think you should call the hospital / unit just in case. I remember not long after I had been discharged the weather was hot and humid, and I didn't feel to well either. fortunately, my little girl wasn't ill (and certainly didn't have chicken pox), when I spoke with the hospital, they said I had t...

Going back to work - feeling weird ?

Hi all I've just gone back to work after my transplant. had 3 months off. I was climbing the walls when I was home, and although no-one really wants to go to work !!!, I thought it would do me good, try and retrain my brain from mush to do something useful. I've gone back on a phased approach - 2 da...
