Re: Bringing creatinine down?
To perhaps put it into some context, I'm male, 6ft tall, and currently 91kg, my creatinine has ranged from 84 to 91 over the past 12 months. NHS PatientView indicates 60-120 as normal. As for exercise, I like to talk long walks in parks or along the nearby canal or river. I need do to more walking a...

Re: No paired match so PD it is.......
That's one factor so it probably isn't as clear cut as I made it sound. On a positive note, whilst I was on CAPD, I didn't have to take laxatives all the time. There is an awful lot of information, as well as various possible outcomes, involved with just dialysis, so it makes sense for medical teams...

Re: No paired match so PD it is.......
I don't miss those chalky calcium tablets. Did anyone try the fish tablets? Maxepa? I was prescribed Maxepa so I assume you have IgA Nephropathy. To Soobee, I think it was a few weeks after my PD catheter was inserted before I had the training. I also had a test, a few weeks later, to see how well ...

Re: Blood creatinine over 1000, how do folks feel?
Are you a PD or HD patient? If HD, is that pre or post dialysis? Mine was always >1000 pre-dialysis, and somewhere in the 300s post-dialysis. I always felt a bit energised after HD, and as I was twilight shift patient I usually didn't get to sleep before 1am. Once I moved from PD to HD, I had enough...

The name changed to patientview.org a few months ago. I just logged into patientview.org successfully. According to a news article there, the renalpatientview.org domain name/URL should work and redirect your browser.

Re: hemodialysis and flatulence
I noticed that some people, including myself, would have issues with wind whilst on HD. It came down to what we'd eaten that day (fibrous food such as celery, in my case), or ate at the start of the HD session (twilights). Talk to your renal consultant, and perhaps, more usefully, your renal dietici...

Re: Securing PD catheter?
I used tape. I don't recall the brand names, but I had a papery type (blue writing on the inside of the roll) and a more fabric/gauze type (green writing). I preferred the latter as it was less irritating. I found changing the area where you apply the tape could help. By the end of my time on CAPD, ...

Re: Things to do on Dialysis
My fistula is located just by my left wrist. Once I had been on haemodialysis for a few months, I found I could use my left hand for minor tasks such as typing, playing video games, and generally helping out my right hand, without setting off the pressure alarms. If you do have to have haemo, you'll...

Re: First time dialysis, puffy eyes the day after normal??
I suggest you ask when at your next dialysis session. I was pretty fluid overloaded when I started haemodialysis and was generally puffy and swollen all over! I also first dialysed via a Tessio neckline. Fluid will move around when you're asleep so perhaps, as previously suggested, posture overnight...
