Mine is booked for Tuesday at my GP’s surgery.
Hoping not to see a queue.
As to my renal unit being involved, I never expected they would be.

Re: Fistula removal.
When I was in the dialysis unit I saw some patients with the fistula in the upper arm. One lady had it created in her leg. Not wanting to be insensitive I never asked why. I guess we all have medical reasons that dictated the position chosen for the fistula. I wish you well and look forward to an up...

Re: Fistula removal.
My understanding is that nothing is put in. The surgeon creates a connection between an artery and a vein. Exactly how is a question for the surgeon. I was very lucky to get a transplant after just 18 months on dialysis. Mine was tied off after about two years from being created. I still have a pea ...

All done with a local.

Re: Fistula removal.
I had mine tied off a few months after transplant because I was experiencing a lot of pain from it.
In and out in just a few hours.
No limitations of use other than the expected wound covering for a few days.

Re: Coronavirus
It's the mixed messages that add to the confusion. I read online that the "shielding" has been extended until the end of June, yet I've had no such message/letter/text from my GP or hospital. Ten weeks of shielding done.... That said I don't expect things to return to normal anytime soon. ...

I was also expecting to register on the government website. That's the UK government website by the way. Apparent we are not a "United Kingdom" it seems. You can only register if you live in England. Us in Wales have been ignored..as has our Scotland friends. It seems I was a little prema...

Re: Tieing off fistula after transplant
Reporting back as promised.
I can honestly say having had the fistula tied off it was very successful.
The constant pain and aching has completely gone. Just occasionally I get a slight twinge, but nothing of great concern.

Re: Tieing off fistula after transplant
Well....it's done. Had the fistula tied off this afternoon.
My consultant did say it may take time before I feel the benefit. Time will tell.
Will report back as and when if others interested.

Re: Tieing off fistula after transplant
Wondering if others have had their fistula tied off? I'm having the same problem as the original poster...pain/aching in the fistula arm, and sometimes a severe sharp pain where the fistula was created. My consultant/surgeon has agreed to tie it off leaving the option to create another in the upper ...

Re: Transplant question
Thanks, again. I doubt if they'll pay for a taxi, though. A 70 mile trip is going to be costly and I imagine taxi drivers are very reluctant to do it because they have to drive back empty. So I'm working on the assumption that I (or my wife) will have to drive. Cheers Stephen That really isn't the ...

Re: Transplant question
As others have said, it's not a problem. I often go camping with friends for a weekend. It wasn't a problem. They asked that I phoned the transplant nurse before going to give them an idea of how long it would take me to get home. As it happened, the call came one afternoon when I was home....and no...

Re: Very frequent urination after tx
I thought I would give an update on my condition.
Yesterday I got the call and had a transplant last evening.
Currently laid on the bed with wires/tubes everywhere, most likely removed tomorrow.
Feeling rather pleased the way things occurred.

Re: Suspected Iga nephropathy
Hi Adam, I know exactly what you mean about being zoned out on hearing the news. I've also done the "Google" thing and scared myself silly. It's not a death sentence! I was diagnosed with a kidney function of only 20% eighteen months ago. It's now just9% and I started dialysis last week. I...
