Re: 12th Transplantiversary

Hi All, Its been a while since I've been on here. Had my blood results back from the doctor today and reading the figures make me realise how lucky I am. Creatinine sitting pretty at 111 and efgr at 73. This september will be my 13th anniversary. I hope and pray it continues like this for many years...

Re: Anxiety on the lead up to appointments!

Yep, I know exactly where you were coming from. I had built up a very good relationship with my renal consultant. He always recognised my blood pressure would play up when I went to see him. I purchased an omron blood pressure monitor and he asked me to take regular blood pressure readings and bring...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Thanks for posting that routine. That definitely gives me a good idea. I think I am going to have to get up earlier to cover off breakfast. What do you do for drinks? I do like my tea, although I only have a drop of milk in it! The positive is, I don't have sugar in my tea or coffee and haven't for ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Tibbs, I'm very interested in your slow card diet. Would you be in a position to give an example of what you would eat on your diet on a normal day? I could really do with losing some weight. My excuse is, that my job is awkward. I don't work in an office, I'm always travelling to a customer. Though...

Re: Bringing creatinine down?

I think I'm fairly near the 1-2 litres. I love water, and I think that definitely comes down to the fluid restriction, the hardest thing I've had to deal with really to the point I was obsessed with what I drank etc.

Re: my creatinine is 63.7..how do others with same level fee

Shouldn't you be feeling better on a creatinine level of 63.7 or is it 637? I'm transplanted for 10 years and my creatinine is never higher than 130 or lower than 120. Pre dialysis I was in the 1800's.

Re: Securing PD tube

You see this is another thing I don't understand. When I was on dialysis (2002-04), I showered without any dressings on at all. I was told, as long as the water was running down over the exit site, then this was not a problem as long as after showering the exit site was completely dry. Which I did w...

Re: Securing PD tube

Hi There,

When I was on dialysis I was using small-ish mepore dressings. Cutting 2 slits and pushing the PD catheter in to the slitted area. I never had any issue with itching/bleeding. Are you using normal plasters?

Re: Veins borderline for fistula

I had the fistula op. Fistula functioned for about a minute according to the surgeon.

They did a map of my veins and they were too narrow. Nothing was ever done about it. I went on PD and that was it.

Re: How long to feel normal after stent removal

I must have been lucky! I was KO'd for my stent removal! As for the twinges, I can't remember how long they went on for, but I remember being in agony when going for a wee. I guess it was because I had dried up so to speak!
