Charity bike ride to raise money for PKD charity
Hello everyone. I have not been on here for some time, I just tend to lurk on here. For those of you that know, my transplant that i got last year is chugging along nicely to the point where my colleague and I have decided to ride the 7Stanes in 7Days challenge in the Scottish borders next year. Thi...

Re: Neck lines
I dialysed with a tunnelled neckline for 8 months due to the delay in getting a fistula put in. I got sedated for my insertion so don't remember much at all (just the way I like it!) I found it inconvenient but once it has settled down, I hardly noticed it really. the main problem I had was that my ...

Check out my Ticker!!!! 6 months already, feeling good pred down to 7.5 mg a day so lost that 'turbo boost!'. GFR at Round about 60%. I have been doing lots of miles walking the dog, cycling a bit and even playing squash! Although I hurt my wrist so that's off the cards for a while!

Re: Transplant
Have PM'd you but i was back at work after 8 weeks but then I drive a desk for a living. You will find week on week you can do more and more and you will find your own limits. I am now 4 months post op and while I am still aware of the wound, I can pretty much do what I want now but everyone is diff...

Re: Transplant
Great to hear Dave, sounds like a cracking match as my creatinine has averaged about 120 which is still fantastic compared to 1200 at its peak. When the energy starts to kick take it easy as you can quite easily overdo it. when you start being able to use the energy you will be amazed at what you ca...

Re: levels gone up?? Hernia repair and pd catheter
I had my PD catheter in for a year before it was used and tbh i was glad i did as all complications had sorted themsleves out well before them so dialysys was pretty much plain sailing, and when the PD training comes it is one less thing to get his head around and he will have a good hygiene routine...

Re: Time for Benefits support for renal patients?
I am with you on that one, I got transplanted in january and my company sick pay ran out last year, I tried to get the company to review thier policy to extend their sick pay with no joy. I now have the prospect of getting just SSP this month (£79 a week) yet still being expected to pay all of the ...

When i was in getting my tx, they had to turn someone off my unit away as they had no I.C, beds due to the flu outbreaks. Its frustrating but better to be safe than sorry. The staff on 6a are amazing, watch out for Trish as she will have you laughing your stitches out!

Hi, yes i am under DR Paterson at James Cook, I am there today as it happens, I have plenty of time on my hands at the mo so a meet up would be good.
