My last post was a bit confusing so I thought I would tell my whole story (sorry to annoy you!) Rolling Eyes

I had an upset stomach for 3 days, I thought nothing of it but I went to the doctor just to see. The doctor gave me some tablets and I got blood tests taken. My doctor rang me and told me that I had to get to the hospital as there seemed to be something wrong with my kidney fuction.
I went to the hospital and blood tests and urine tests. I had to be admitted that night (at this point I was very worried)
The next day I was took for an ultrasound on my kidneys, the doctors came back and said that they couldn't see what was wrong so they needed to do a biopsy.
The doctor said that the biopsy had showed that I had inflamation of the kidneys and that my kidneys were also scarred nad said it was IAG.
Then the doctor came back and told me that my kidney function was low and I it seemed that my kidneys were going to fail, I was then told that I would have to on a low salt diet.
So I was discharged and told to come back to see the doctor again. He said that we were just waiting on my kidneys failing which would be in months. It was a bit much to take all this in. My dad had renal faulure but he sadly passed away 3 years ago.
So that's my story, I hope that it helps! I am finding it hard to take this in, which is why I am looking for so much information.

Thank you for time

hi there,

you have every right to be scared and worried. I think its something everyone on this forum has been through and understand. Doctors tend to forget this is extreme news to you, but just a normal day to them. Note that they do get it wrong.... .On a daily basis what has changed from yesterday? only today you knew a little bit more and that is a good thing (better than not knowing, only to find one day you could have changed it if you had known earlier).

You have been given some good links in the previous posts. The only thing I wanted to add is You are not your dad (ignoring how confusing family photos would be). You do not contain all the genetic make up from him and you have not lived his life in his timespan. You live now, where science and understanding have advanced. Therefore you are a different person to him. You could win the lottery tomorrow.

So what to do - well information helps, read and read lots. Sort your diet. Use this as the kick start to do things like exercise and everything else you have wanted to do. Sort your diet out - only you can. Ask questions here - we can help.

Gary
